Our Story
All Good Things Start Over Breakfast
Miyahara & Associates started the way many great ideas do—over breakfast and endless coffee refills. We’d been meeting like this for years, trading stories about the challenges we’d seen in education and imagining better ways to support kids, families, and schools.
For a long time, those conversations were just dreams—until the timing was finally right. Jane was ready for her next challenge after retiring, and Jackie realized that the demands of being a foster mom didn’t fit with the structure of a traditional school job. We both wanted to keep making an impact, but in a way that gave us the freedom to work differently and the focus to make systems truly work for the people they’re meant to serve.
Our different strengths made the perfect combination. Jane brought her deep expertise in early childhood education and her incredible way of connecting with people. Jackie brought her analytical mind, passion for Assistive Technology, and talent for creating systems that keep everyone connected and the work moving forward. Together, we had the skills, vision, and drive to make our shared dream a reality.
Just as important, we wanted to honor the amazing educators and specialists we’ve had the privilege to work with over the years—drawing on their talents and experience in the work we do.
That morning, something clicked. By the time the plates were cleared, we had more than just ideas. We had a plan: to build a team that could step in where families and schools need support most, bringing expertise, empathy, and practical tools to help every child succeed.
That breakfast conversation became the first chapter of Miyahara & Associates—and we’ve been building on it ever since.
