Hello

Hi, I’m Jackie Bott—educator, system-builder, and lover of all things data and spreadsheets. With over 20 years of experience in general and special education, I’ve gone from teaching phonics to a room full of British first graders (trickier than you might think with an American accent!) to leading programs that connect families, schools, and districts. No matter the setting, my goal is always the same: help students succeed by making the work easier, smarter, and more connected.

My Story

Hi, I’m Jackie Bott, and I’ve built my career around bridging the gaps between district policies, schools, families, and students—especially in Special Education. My path hasn’t been linear, but every step has deepened my commitment to creating systems that truly work for kids.

I earned my BA in Behavioral Science with a minor in Elementary Education from Metropolitan State University. I began as a substitute teacher and later became a 1st Grade teacher in London, England. Between my first and second work visa in London, I earned my special education license, which I thought would help me support all of the kiddos in my class, but in hindsight, set me up for the amazing career in special education that I never planned on having. When I returned to the U.S., I unexpectedly stepped into full-time special education at The Joshua School in Englewood, an experience that changed the course of my career. Immersed in full-time special education work for the first time, I saw the profound impact specialized support can have on students and families. It was there that I realized this was the work I wanted to dedicate my life to.

From that pivotal moment, my career took shape. I joined Denver Children’s Home, working closely with teachers, while pursuing my MA in Educational Psychology with an emphasis on Research & Evaluation at CU Denver. My love of coaching, research, data, and spreadsheets led me to Denver Public Schools—first as a special education teacher coach, and later as the leader of the Assistive Technology Department. In 2020, I expanded my leadership role to include the Special Education Assessments Department.

Along the way, I’ve been honored with an award for my work in Assistive Technology and have presented my work at local, national, and international conferences on Assistive and Educational Technology. Sharing knowledge and finding creative, data-driven solutions are at the heart of what I do.

Outside of work, I’m a foster mama, wife, dog mom, and avid creator of anything hands-on and artistic. Partnering with Jane to launch Miyahara & Associates has been the perfect way to bring my skills full circle—designing systems that help everyone stay connected, solve problems, and get the work done so students can thrive.
