About Us

Jane Miyahara is a respected leader in early childhood education, particularly in Special Education. Well known in Denver and beyond for her contributions, she has dedicated her career to supporting children, families, and education systems.
Her journey began in Head Start, where she was introduced to the premier model of early childhood education and the power of comprehensive support for young children and their families. She then spent several years in Adams 14, gaining invaluable classroom experience before transitioning to policy work. Jane’s expertise led her to the Colorado Department of Education, where she supported all 172 school districts in preschool programming and Child Find. Eventually, she joined Denver Public Schools, focusing on system and quality improvements—bringing her career full circle in the district where she was raised.
Beyond Colorado, Jane has consulted in multiple cities across the country and served on advisory committees at the local, state, and federal levels. Even after retiring in 2022, her passion for education remained strong, inspiring her to establish Miyahara and Associates, LLC. Through this venture, Jane and her dedicated team continue to provide expert support to families, school districts, and organizations in need.
Before her career in education, Jane earned a BA in American Studies from the University of Hawaii. Her early professional experiences included roles at the Smithsonian Institution, the Japanese American Citizens League, and the DC Government. She encourages everyone to experience Washington, DC—a city she loves for its vibrant culture and incredible food.
Outside of work, Jane enjoys traveling, exploring great food, and quilting. She proudly embraces her title as a crazy cat lady, cherishing time with her two beloved cats, Benny and Joon. Grateful for the journey so far, she looks forward to new opportunities and the impact still to come.
